Wow, has it really been 5 months since I blogged about my desire to hone in on my personal style? Between a promotion at work, changes in family dynamics, volunteering and general life…documenting my process via the blog fell by the wayside.
But I did keep notes and am finally ready to share.
The first step in finding my personal style was examine my closet and see what I was wearing and what I wasn’t.
For the months of July and August, I kept detailed notes of the outfits I wore, the pieces that got repeated use, and the things I skipped over.
What did I learn?
1. I prefer dresses and skirts to trousers for the office.
2. Skinny jeans are my preferred cut of jeans…although my faded, soft as butter boot cuts are a fave for Saturday errands.
3. My preferred color scheme: navy, black and grey for bottoms, white, black, rich purples and gold/yellows for tops.
Taking my observations into account, I pared my closet down to just those items that fit.
Here’s a glimpse of what I was left with:
2 pairs of trousers
My next goal was to mix and match these items to create at least a months worth of looks. Check back next Friday for the first week of outfits.
