You turned 3 months old on October 2nd and celebrated by catching your first cold. We’ve spent the past week and a half dealing with runny noses, a sad sounding cough, and matted eyes. However, through it all you’ve remained a happy and content baby – a fact that makes Mama’s heart swell with pride! Let’s talk about what’s happened with you in the past month.
Height & Weight: We have not seen the doctor this month for a check-up, so I don’t have stats to share. However, if I had to guess on weight, I would say you are close if not over 15 lbs.
Eating: Your eating habits are pretty much the same as they were last month. During your waking hours you have 4 to 5 ounces every 2 to 3 hours. You normally have your last feeding between 5:30 and 7:00 p.m. You occasionally wake up around 4 a.m. for another bottle – but you seem to be moving towards sleeping thru the night (fingers crossed).
Sleeping: You are still an early morning rising – waking up for the day by 6:30. Our morning routine still consists of nursing/feeding and then snuggling before we dress and prepare for the day. You are napping between 3 to 4 times a day. You go to bed for the night between 5:30 and 7:00 and for the most part sleep thru the night.
Clothing: You are wearing exclusively 3 to 6 month in pants and onesies, and are rapidly beginning to be able to wear 6 month and 6 to 9 months pieces. Last month, we had to cuff the 3 to 6 month pant because the length was too long but a growth spurt seems to have resolved that problem.
New this month: You have become increasingly more vocal. You have also discovered your hands and that you can use them for grasping things. You like to grab the finger of anyone holding you, cling to your paci, or reach for the toys on your playmat.
Your likes: You seem to love music – even smiling when Mama sings off-key to you, Joycie still has the ability to make you smile when nobody else can, and riding is the stroller is a favorite pastime of yours.
¼ of the first year of your life is already over. We desperately want to find the pause button and slow the passage of time. However, we know all too well that time keeps marching forward. So we will continue to soak up each moment with you, and record our memories here – so that someday when you are all grown-up with a life of your own, we can look back and remember what you were when you were just 3 months old.
